24 Math Challenge

(Students must try out for this team activity)

    Mr. Lauman

Try outs are in December.

Will be announced.

The 24 Math Challenge is a game of skill and speed in which students try to be the fastest to make the number 24 out of four numbers on a game card.  They may add, subtract, multiply, or divide, and must use all four numbers on the card only once.  There are three different games in which to compete: single digits, double digits, and integers.  Students try out for the opportunity to compete in a school tournament.  The winners in each category of the school tournament receive a $50 savings bond from M&T Bank.  Then, they are invited to attend a county-wide tournament     that is also sponsored by M&T Bank.  As winners at the county level, students earn medals for advancing throughout a series of game rounds, with the game’s grand champion being awarded a $1,000 savings bond.  Try out will be held beginning in early December, and will culminate in March, with the County tournament in Timonium.  All are invited to attend.
