Important Back-To-School Dates and Information

Dear Stemmers Run Families,

We are more than a month away from the start of the school year, but the stores have replaced their summer barbeque displays with school supplies, so it must be time to talk about the upcoming school year.  I am once again excited to kick off another great year at Stemmers Run Middle School, where we have an amazing faculty and staff who are really looking forward to getting back in their classrooms and working with your children.  The official summer mailing will comes out later in August, but I wanted to pass along a few items now so that everyone has time to prepare for the school year and hold some important dates.  If you have any questions about the information being provided in this email, please call us at 410-887-0177, so that we can help you.  Below is a list of important dates and reminders.  I also attached our generic school supply list (which can be found linked from the main page of this website), but please keep in mind that depending on your child’s specific class schedule, they may need a few items not on the grade level list. 

Important Dates:

Wednesday, August 29, 2018 - 6:00 PM – New Parent Information Night in the SRMS Auditorium – This event is for parents of 6th grade students, as well as, 7th and 8th grade parents who are new to Stemmers Run.  We will provide some basic orientation information as well as go over computer contracts and get them signed.  In order for a new student to receive their laptop computer once school starts, a parent or guardian must attend a technology information session and sign a contract.  If you cannot attend this night, we will offer the technology session at other times once the school year begins, but it may delay when your child receives their computer.  (Parents of returning children, who attended a technology information session in a previous year, only need to sign a new contract for this year).  Even though the information is geared toward parents, students are welcome to attend as well.   

Thursday, August 30, 2018 - 8:25 AM – 11:55 AM – 6th Grade Early Entry Day – This is a half day of school made available to all 6th graders.  Buses will bringing students to and from school for a half day orientation.  Students will receive their schedules, meet their teachers, and follow their schedule in order to get comfortable with the building prior to the first day of school.    Lunch will be served.  Attendance is not required, but highly encouraged.   

Tuesday, September 4, 2018 – First Day of School – School hours are 8:25 AM – 3:00 PM, doors open at 8:00AM, please do not drop off students before 8:00 AM because there is no supervision for them. 

Thursday, September 6, 2018 – 6:30PM - PTSA Board meeting in the SRMS Auditorium – This PTSA meeting is open to anyone who would like to volunteer and be active in our PTSA.

Wednesday, September 12, 2018 5:30-6:00 – First Full PTSA Meeting (followed by Back to School Night)

Wednesday, September 12, 2018 6:00 – 8:00 – Back to School Night
