Virtual Orientation - Google Meet

We are excited that your student is planning to attend Stemmers Run Middle School in the fall.  We have an online program this summer which will help acclimate students to our school and staff since we were unable to hold in-person orientation sessions in the spring.

All sessions will be hosted virtually through Google Meets.  Follow these recommended steps to access Google Meets:

  •   Use a microphone and video enabled device, preferably the student’s BCPS issued computer
  •   Use a Chrome browser to go to this website: meet.google.com
  •   The student will need to be logged into Chrome using their BCPS username.
  •   Click Sign In in the upper right-hand side
  •   Sign in using your BCPS username with @bcps.org after it and your BCPS password
  •    If you are logged into a personal account you will need to switch to your BCPS account by clicking “switch account” or “use a different account” (see figure below)
  •   Enter Meet Code – SRMSinfo into the website meet.google.com

 

Make sure you are signed in with your BCPS google account.  If not, follow the directions to switch accounts.Sign in to your BCPS Google account

 

Google Meet Etiquette reminders:

  •   Find a quiet place in your home to attend a live session
  •   Stay muted when you are not speaking to help reduce distracting noise
  •   Wear headphones or earbuds when possible
  •   Keep your camera off to save bandwidth and make the connection  smoother
  •   Participate and contribute by answering or asking questions –
  •   Use the chat area to monitor the conversation
